We don't scan or auto-read documents: numbers people make decisions on shouldn't come from a machine's best guess at a photo. If you'd rather have a person read your stub, send us a question.

We don't put a number on a royalty that isn't paying yet. What it's worth depends on terms in your deed that the public record doesn't show, and the methods we use for minerals would overstate it. Pick your county and we'll show what's happening there — drilling is what turns a royalty into checks.

Net mineral acres Your share, in acres. A 1/4 interest under 160 acres is 40 — and if it came down through the family, it's the same arithmetic: a grandfather's 160 acres split between four grandchildren is 40 each. A rough number is fine — what's a net mineral acre?

Lease bonus, per acre The up-front cash per acre when you signed — it's on your lease. Only have the total? Divide it by your acres. This is the whole method for a lease with no well yet.

Royalty rate The fraction in your lease — usually 1/8, 3/16 or 1/4. Not the long decimal on a check stub (like 0.0039): that's your slice of the well, already shrunk by your share of the land. Inherited? The royalty didn't change — the acres were divided. Not sure? Leave it and we'll assume 1/8 and say so.
